For those of us who believe Britney Spears’ divorce and her career comeback go hand-in-hand, here’s an interesting morsel.
Before the news of Brit’s divorce filing hit on Nov. 7, she placed a phone call that had been on her mind for months, reaching out to her estranged friend and former mentor, Madonna, an insider tells Life & Style.
But there was one small problem: Britney no longer had the Material Mom’s phone number — she changes her phone number frequently and shares it with a very tight, hand-picked circle of friends that Brit wasn’t included in.
So Britney called the New York office of Madonna’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, says the insider.
“She just called and said, ‘Can you tell Madonna I called to let her know I filed for divorce?” the insider says.
The person who answered the phone expressed sorrow about the divorce, but Britney responded politely in an even tone: “Thank you, but she’ll be thrilled. I wanted to let her know before it hit, but I didn’t have her number in London and wasn’t sure how to reach her if she was in New York.”
Britney then left her number for Madonna to return her call, which Madge seemed eager to do once she received the message.
When an employee in Madonna’s office reached Madge and gave her Britney’s phone number, Madonna said, “Great. I have this number. This is good news.”
We couldn’t agree more. And we hope that Madonna and Brit hook up again — they do an awesome duet!

So they're still friends? That's nice at least. Although I wold think with everything Madonna is going through with her adoption Britney would be the least of her worries.

Madonna has her own problem with the adoption why would Britney tell Madonna her own personal problems. Doesn't she think about others? I guess not she is so worried about her image that she needs everyone's attention.

wow...people....so she wanted to tell Madonna big deal....she aint your friend...she aint gonna be calling you. is it really anybodys concern who she feels like telling, do they need to keep you up to date every time they do talk, maybe Madonna had asked Britney at one point to let know...Wow

Madonna has been a horrible friend to Britney she distance herself from Britney, for what? because she didn't approve of K-Fed!!, give me a break!!! the father of her first born was just a personal trainer from a third world country! She got her nerve!!! Madonna is an attention whore who jumps on every liberal agenda she can and what a copy cat she is, I'm sure she is ticked she didn't think of the adoption thing first, (Jolie)...not that she has an orginal thought, but she is very quick to see what is going to be popular and runs to be accepted into the so called Hollywood in crowd B.S....so high school...its unreal to me that anyone would take Madonna serious....At Britney is truly a sweet girl who doesn't put on fake airs, she is very down to earth and admits she just a country girl, its so refreshing to see someone famous who didn't forget where they came from...
