Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have done charity work in places as far-flung as Africa and Cambodia. But their next stop? Brad's hometown, Springfield, Mo.!
As first reported in the local Springfield News-Leader, the couple are joining forces with Brad's brother Doug, a businessman, to launch the Care to Learn Fund, devoted to raising money to help needy children in Springfield public schools.
Life & Style spoke exclusively to Jim D. Morris, the philanthropist who's partnering with the Jolie-Pitts on the fund. "I've worked with Doug Pitt, and he called me and invited me to join the program," Jim tells Life & Style. "Doug told me he called Brad and talked to him about being involved with the charity and Brad was very excited about it. Brad and Angelina are thrilled to be involved with the program."
Naturally, Springfield residents are equally thrilled. “People in town are absolutely excited about the program,” Morris tells Life & Style. “Brad and Angelina’s involvement is the key to making it successful. I always say that with Brad, you don’t even have to mention his last name and everyone knows who you’re talking about. Certainly I’m proud to be associated with him and Angelina, but that’s not what the program’s about. The cause is to help the children.”
