Welcome home, Uma!

Uma937.jpgBoston Film Festival organizers said today they're honoring hometown girl Uma Thurman this year with their excellence award -- and are kicking off the festival on Sept. 18 with her new film Motherhood.

"The committee is delighted to honor Uma for her extraordinary film career," said Robin Dawson, the festival's executive director. "Uma has entertained audiences around the globe in varied performances and has become an inspiration to women. This movie will resonate with mothers and families alike while supplying some welcome comedic relief."

Motherhood, a comedy about a woman juggling her responsibilities as a mother and her dreams of being a writer, is set to hit theaters in October.
