Reese Witherspoon was content in her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal until he made one mistake: preparing to pop the question. "Reese and Jake had lots of 'what if' conversations about marriage during their relationship," says an insider close to the actress. "But just before Thanksgiving, Jake was actually about to propose, and Reese wasn't ready."
After more than two years together, why wasn't Reese, 33, ready for marriage? "She was very honest with Jake," the insider says. "She explained that while she loved him and loved how he was with her children, they were at different stages."
