Brittany Murphy's mother-in-law: it's a terrible time for everyone

Brittany1003.jpgWhen Brittany Murphy died unexpectedly from cardiac arrest on Dec. 20, she was found by the two most important people in her life: her husband, Simon Monjack, and her mother, Sharon Murphy. Now Simon and Sharon, who have lived under one roof in LA since Brittany tied the knot with her screenwriter hubby in April 2007, are turning to each other for comfort -- while oddly continuing to play house. "I don't know if she'll ever recover," Simon says about his mother-in-law. "I hope she stays. I can't imagine my life without Sharon."

"Sharon and Simon are still living together," Simon's mother, Linda Monjack, a healer and bereavement counselor, confirmed to Life & Style in an exclusive interview on Jan. 4. "It's a terrible time for everyone. They're getting through it by having each other."

Now that Brittany's gone, the in-laws are leaning on each other more than ever. "Brittany was lovely inside and out," Linda, tells Life & Style. "I speak to Simon every day. Some days he copes, and some he doesn't. It's the same for Brittany's mother; she's in a terrible state. I just feel very sorry for everybody. They're not doing too well."
