Ke$ha Hollywood sign is a hoax

Ke$ha1007.jpg While Ke$ha is taking over the Billboard charts, she's not taking over Hollywood's most famous billboard, the Hollywood sign. A video posted online of Ke$ha purportedly altering the iconic sign on Feb. 4 is a hoax, Life & Style can reveal. "There was a group of people up near the sign, but no one actually went through with defacing the sign," an insider tells Life & Style. "It's been raining [in LA], and if you look at the video, it's sunny out. Nothing happened to the sign. It's a hoax."

The video depicts Ke$ha and a group of friends sneaking under a fence and draping a fabric sign that read "Ke$hawood" over the Hollywood sign. "Hwood sign is officially my biznatch," Ke$ha also tweeted at 3:20 a.m. on Feb 4.

Though the Hollywood sign has been defaced in the past, a rep for the LAPD tells Life & Style, "If someone had seen the Hollywood sign [being] vandalized, it would have been called in to the LAPD, but we never received a call."

Some Hollywood residents have seen "Ke$hawood" but only on the posted video. One resident who lives near the Hollywood sign, Mitch Yapko, tells Life & Style, "I see the Hollywood sign every day and it looked the same today as it did last week -- clean and inspiring."

A rep for Ke$ha said, 'I have no comment and no additional insight."
