Devin Velez’s American Idol days are sadly over.
After getting eliminated from the competition on March 28, all of the Idol judges had kind words for the castoff — except for one: Nicki Minaj.
“I don't know [why she didn't approach me]. She has a lot of girl power — maybe she just wants a girl to win,” Devin [pictured below] explained to Life & Style about his lack of support from the “Superbass” songstress.

Fortunately for him, Keith Urban, Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey all showed him love following the elimination.
“Dude, you were great, it was an honor having you on the show," Devin relays to Life & Style about what country crooner Keith told him.
And Randy was just as nice. “I want to keep in contact with you because you are an amazing artist and we would love to work with people like you."
Devin received a proper send off — equipped with a hug and tears — from one of his biggest fans, Mariah.

"You know, I would love to, you know, sometime down your road, do something with you," the "We Belong Together" singer said to the teen.
“I love Mariah she's such a sweetheart,” Devin admitted. “Hearing from her that I've been one of her favorite artists- that’s awesome.”
Devin’s final performance had the crowd chanting "save" and earned him a standing ovation from all of the judges — except Nicki. Randy noted that the decision to not save Devin was not a unanimous one.

Even Idol champ Carrie Underwood thought the panel made a mistake. "I'm very sad that Devin was sent home tonight," she tweeted. "He has mad talent. The judges should've used the same. He deserved it."
