Nicki Minaj was caught on tape cursing out fellow judge Mariah Carey during American Idol auditions in Charlotte, N.C., on Oct. 2 — and now the show's host, Ryan Seacrest, is speaking out about just how heated the situation was.
"It was intense, I'll be honest with you," Ryan said this morning, Oct. 3, on his radio show, On Air with Ryan Seacrest.
"These are all very different individuals with different perspectives and different opinions that provide for interesting conversation and dialogue and feedback for the contestants," Ryan added. "Each one of those members of the panel this year is an essential ingredient to the sum of the show."
In the video, obtained by TMZ, Nicki is heard saying to Mariah she's "not putting up with her" among other crude words.

She also allegedly threatened the legendary songstress. This came after the pair disagreed about a contestant's performance.
"There's nothing wrong with disagreeing, and that's gonna happen and that's okay," Ryan said.
But will Nicki and Mariah be able to bury the hatchet and work together for the remainder of the season?

"Yes," Ryan said. "We want them to be on this panel together, that's what everyone's decided."
In September, Nicki and country sensation Keith Urban joined Mariah, who signed on for a reported $18 million earlier in the summer, and veteran judge Randy Jackson for the 12th season of Idol, premiering in January.
