Two days after flaunting her killer abs on stage with hubby Gavin Rossdale, Gwen Stefani is admitting something pretty shocking.
“This past year, I kind of stopped working out. I think my body just needed a break,” she confesses in the January 2013 issue of Marie Claire U.K. “And so I did that and focused more on feeling good as opposed to beating myself up.”
The 43-year-old rocker looked nothing short of fit and fabulous when she took the stage at the KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas concert in Universal City, Calif. on Dec. 8. The No Doubt songstress performed Bush’s song, “Glycerine,” with her leading front man.
It’s a far cry from what she said just four months ago.
TAKE OUR POLL: Do you think Gwen and Gavin's marriage will last?
“I hate talking about my body [all the time]; it’s ridiculous,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in August. “There is no secret: you just have to eat healthy, work out, and torture yourself! But it’s more for my brain that it is for my body. I like to wear clothes too much, so I try to keep focused.”
Perhaps finding a perfect balance with work and family changed her exercise attitude?
“I was swimming upstream, trying to balance everything that’s been going on with having kids and a family. There’s no way to do all these things,” the designer and mom of sons Kingston, 6, and Zuma, 4, says in Marie Claire, adding, “I missed two fashion weeks because they were when school started. I can’t miss the first week of kindergarten.”
While she does admit her relationship with Gavin, whom she’s been married to since 2002, has been "challenging" at times, she also admits to the mag, “My biggest accomplishment is my marriage.”
