For the 16th season of Dancing With the Stars, pro dancer Kym Johnson will be sharing the inside scoop with Life & Style readers — a behind-the-scenes look at the show and the run of her celebrity partner, former General Hospital star Ingo Rademacher. In the fourth week, Kym dishes on last week’s shows, Sean Lowe’s faux glow, and stepping up her game with Ingo tonight. Check back every week for more backstage gossip from Kym!
Last week's shows were so much fun! I had a blast being prom queen during my dance with Ingo. Even if it lasted for only a little while, I absolutely loved it. It couldn’t have been more exciting. Although I got to play prom queen on the dance floor, Zendaya officially took the title the next night when America crowned her the queen along with Jacoby Jones as her prom king. I thought it was a perfect pairing. Also, Demi Lovato’s performance was amazing!
DANCIN' DIARY: Backstage at Dancing With the Stars with Kym Johnson, week 3: I still can't believe Lisa Vanderpump was almost eliminated
Since I wasn’t able to go to my prom in high school, this truly made up for my lack of experience. I loved prom.
I must say that everyone looked great in their prom attire, especially Sean Lowe — who looked really cute in his overalls and was rocking the signature DWTS spray tan. As usual, he was really working it. There’s definitely no chance of ever getting Ingo to get a spray tan. In fact, he doesn’t even like to wear makeup on the show. His tan is au naturel.

Besides convincing Ingo to sport a spray tan, another challenge of DWTS is the time factor. The pressure sort of gets a little more intense as the competition goes on. You have to get the dance ready in just four days so the time crunch can be a bit stressful at times. You have to remind yourself often that this show is meant to be fun. I think Ingo and I are pretty good at that. We have a good balance of working really hard, but then having a lot of fun.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: Dancing With the Stars' Kym Johnson: We tan while we rehearse!
Speaking of working hard, Ingo and I are planning to give it our all tonight. Last week, we got 21 points. We’re doing well, but it would be great to start raising our scores a bit. Overall, I think we’re on the right track. Tonight we are dancing the Viennese Waltz, which suits Ingo really well. I’m excited that we’ve switched up the pace. This is our first slow dance of the season.
The theme for tonight is “The Best Year of My Life.” For Ingo, he had to pick the best year of his life and we chose a song based around the story, so it’s going to be fun. We’re going to find out a little bit more about all of the celebrities this week, which will be good. I can’t wait to show you all what we have in store!
Tune in to see Kym and Ingo tonight at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC — and be sure to follow Kym's new post Mondays on Lifeandstylemag.com! You can vote for Ingo and Kym at 1-800-868-3403 and follow them on Twitter @kym_johnson and @IngoRademacher.
