In the popular F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, the average Gatsby falls in love with the rich and beautiful Daisy before leaving to fight in World War I. During the war, Daisy writes him and reveals she's married aristocrat Tom Buchanan. Upon hearing the news, Gatsby is determined to become successful in order to win her back. Naturally, drama ensues. Actress Carey Mulligan plays Daisy in the new Baz Luhrmann directed film, which hits theaters May 10.
