The Oscars are enlisting a Family Guy to host the 2013 Academy Awards!
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today, Oct. 1, that comedian and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will host the coveted ceremony.
“It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars,” Seth said in a statement. “My thoughts upon hearing the news were, One, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors, and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen roast.”
This will be Seth's first time hosting an award show; he received positive reviews after recently hosting the season-38 premiere of Saturday Night Live.
Seth joins the likes of previous comic hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Stewart and Billy Crystal, who hosted the event for the ninth time earlier this year.
