Now that she went from Not to Hot, the new and improved skinny Mama June Shannon has another struggle to face — a custody battle with her ex, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson.

Viewers were shocked when the normally timid reality star blew up in an explosive yelling match — and even attempted to go after June’s 17-year-old daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon — during the reunion special. But right before he got extremely violent on the WEtv set, he told his ex that he got a lawyer in order to fight her for custody of their 11-year-old daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson.

“I tell you what — I got a lawyer on the case, you’re gonna get the paperwork and that’s all I got to f–king say,” he said.

During the episode, Divorce Court star Judge Lynn Toler sat down with June, Sugar Bear and his new wife Jennifer Lamb in order to try to get to the bottom of the issue — Sugar Bear’s strained relationship with Honey Boo Boo. Mama June previously revealed to Life & Style that Sugar Bear can be abusive and he doesn’t try to be a part of their daughter’s life — and her claims were seemingly proven true.

Lynn asked Sugar Bear if he reached out to his daughter while they were all in the same building filming the reunion special — and he admitted that he didn’t even try to talk to her or see her at all. But when she continued to press him and asked him, that’s when Sugar Bear blew up.

Mama June decided to sit down to have a chat with Jennifer, woman-to-woman, in order to try to work out their issues as adults so that Honey Boo Boo doesn’t have to be put in the middle of such a volatile relationship with her mom, dad, and stepmom. But Jennifer revealed that Sugar Bear is preparing to fight June in court.

“He is doing the legitimation for Alana to go to court to get visitation,” Jennifer said.
