He's a little bit older than your average Bachelor/Bachelorette contestant.
Even though he’s not the oldest, he comes pretty close. He’s just three years shy of 40, which is the age Byron Velvick was when he starred as The Bachelor in Season 6. He’s also just one year younger than Brad Womack was when he appeared on the series for a second time in 2011.
He checks off all of Rachel's boxes.
But his age hasn't hurt him so far — in fact, his maturity might actually help, especially since he seems to encompass everything she’s looking for in a guy. Not only is he a doctor (aka has an established, successful career), but he’s also ready to settle down and have kids, according to his ABC bio — which is something that is super important to Rachel.
“I’m looking for a guy who is ready to get married and start a family — I’m at a stage in my life where that’s exactly what I want and I want a guy that’s not afraid of that,” she told host Chris Harrison during last season's Women Tell All.
