The world is still in celebration mode after Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan Markle, 36, confirmed their engagement on Monday, Nov. 27 — just weeks after Life & Style reported that the red-headed royal had proposed. It was revealed on Dec. 15 that the twosome will be tying the knot on May 19, 2018 at Windsor Castle (in St. George’s Chapel, to be precise!)

The duo made their first official appearance as a betrothed couple in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace shortly after news broke, and Meghan’s future sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, was one of the first to congratulate them. “[Prince] William and I are absolutely thrilled,” the pregnant 35-year-old told reporters on Nov. 28. “It’s such exciting news. It’s a really happy time for any couple and we wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment.”

Harry’s older brother added at an event in Finland, “Wishing them all the happiness in this very exciting time,” before joking, “For me personally, I hope it means he stays out of my fridge, and stop him scrounging over my food like he’s done over the last few years. I’m pretty excited.”

Meghan’s parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland, released a joint statement shortly after the announcement: “We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry. Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together.”

During their first joint interview, Harry described how he fell for the brunette beauty “incredibly quickly.” He shared, “This beautiful woman literally tripped and fell into my life. I fell into her life and the fact that she will be unbelievably good at the job part of it as well is obviously a huge relief to me because she’ll be able to deal with everything else that comes with it.”
