It’s been three years since Solange Knowles attacked JAY-Z in an elevator, but the 47-year-old rapper finally addressed the drama during a recent appearance on the Rap Radar podcast. According to the hip-hop mogul, he and the singer — who’s the younger sister of his wife, Beyoncé — were just fighting like siblings.

“We had one disagreement ever. Before and after we’ve been cool,” JAY-Z explained to hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller. “She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period.”

As previously reported, Solange, 31, kicked JAY-Z while Beyoncé, 35, stood in silence after the 2014 Met Gala in NYC. The fight was caught on the elevator’s surveillance camera and left the Beyhive shook after the footage was leaked to TMZ. In a statement released at the time, the trio told fans they had “moved forward as a united family” after the “unfortunate incident.”
