Whether you fell in love with Milo Ventimiglia on Gilmore Girls or This Is Us isn’t important. The important thing is that you were introduced to the imperfect charm the 40-year-old actor brings to the screen. But, what you might not have noticed is his droopy lip. The star was actually born with a slight deformity that impacts his mouth. Some might have been deterred by this, but Milo didn’t let it stop him from being an Emmy-nominated star.

“‘No, no, no, no, no — your mouth is too crooked,'” he recalled casting directors telling him during auditions. “They said: ‘You look too young,’ and I was like: ‘Yeah, but I’m 24.’ They’d be like: ‘Kid, you look like you’re 17,’” he added. “I mean, even now — I’m 40 this year, and they’re like: ‘No, you’re not.'”

He has absolutely no control over part of his mouth though. He was born with “dead nerves” in his mouth and was frequently asked to fix his “crooked mouth,” meaning the part of his mouth that turns upwards.

“They’d be like: ‘Could you stop doing that thing with your mouth where your lip is going down?'” he remembered. “And I’d be like: ‘Hey, I was born that way.’… I mean, look, I can’t get away from it now. It’s who I am, you know? I’ve got a crooked mouth.”

Ugh, we’re personally offended by the fact that anyone would think it’s okay to ask our sweet Milo to change his face. This is Jess Mariano we’re talking about. This is Jack Pearson we’re talking about. He literally came out of the womb as perfect as a person can be. Keep on being smoking hot, Milo, and don’t you ever change!
