The whole world was left teary-eyed after Oprah Winfrey’s empowering Golden Globes speech. The 63-year-old took to the stage to accept the Cecil B. DeMille Awards on Jan. 7. And, making history as the first black woman to do so, the pop culture icon gave a beautiful nine-minute speech praising all of the “magnificent women” who are no longer going to be silenced by men. But in an awkward and tone-deaf turn of events, First Daughter Ivanka Trump gave her two cents about the speech — and now we’re forced to ask: Girl, do you know what the speech is even about tho?!

In a tweet posted Monday, Jan. 8, President Donald Trump’s daughter posted in support of O and the whole #TimesUp movement. “Just saw @Oprah's empowering & inspiring speech at last night’s #GoldenGlobes. Let’s all come together, women & men, & say #TIMESUP! #United,” she wrote. Of course, the Time’s Up movement was started to combat sexual harassment and sexual abuse in Hollywood as well as to provide legal defense to victims. So, needless to say, the people of Twitter were fairly confused by Ivanka’s tweet.

Not only was pretty much the whole night of the Golden Globes filled with talk of Oprah running for president, but also Ivanka’s own father has a long and upsetting past with his own sexual harassment accusations. Many high profile accounts were quick to point out Ivanka’s blunder. Danny Zucker, a TV producer wrote, “Cool! Hey remember when your dad bragged about walking in on teenage beauty contestants when they were changing? Or how your mom testified that he raped her?” While actress Alyssa Milano added, “Great! You can make a lofty donation to the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund that is available to support your father's accusers.” Model Chrissy Teigen simply wrote, “Ew go away.”

And, considering Oprah’s whole speech was pretty much a jab at the patriarchy, we understand people’s overall confusion. "For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of [men] — but their time is up," she said. “So I want all the girls watching here now to know that a new day is on the horizon. And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women and some pretty phenomenal men.”

Wherever you stand on the political spectrum, it’s pretty clear that Ivanka didn’t quite grasp the root of Oprah’s message. And things got pretty awkward. So it looks like 2018 is set to be just as weird as 2017 was.
