Admit it, young or old, male or female, everyone loves a good boy band moment at the MTV Video Music Awards, and this year that moment is going to come courtesy of the Australian pop band 5 Seconds of Summer.
And so, as the boys from Down Under make an attempt to become the next big thing, let's look at some great past performances at the Video Music Awards from our favorite boy bands.
1998 brought us the boys of Backstreet. They could sing, they could kinda dance, and they were the biggest thing in the world for a few years. Here they are belting out "Everybody."
And guess what? Backstreet's back, alright! This is the boys doing their thing once again in 1999 with what may possibly be the greatest boy band song of all time, "I Want it That Way."
That same year we were introduced to NSync, who basically served as backup singers and dancers to Britney Spears in this number.
Justin Timberlake and the boys got to sing on their own the following year as 98 Degrees sadly looked on wondering when they would get the chance to perform.
Then came the British Invasion of 2012. There are no videos of the One Direction performance, so here's their video for "What Makes You Beautiful."
And last, and basically least, we have the overhyped NSync reunion of 2013, which lasted approximately 30 seconds.
