Anne Hathaway and Seth MacFarlane have made a lot of fans and haters since the Oscars on Sunday — and Girls star Lena Dunham is joining in on the spectacle.
Following the Academy Awards on Feb. 24, the writer and actress shared her thoughts on the controversies surrounding both Anne and Seth.
“Ladies: Anne Hathaway is a feminist and she has amazing teeth,” she tweeted to her 778,000 followers on Feb. 26. “Let’s save our bad attitudes for the ones who aren’t advancing.”
She was referring to the Les Mis star, 30, and her emotional speeches this awards season, which many people have criticized.
After receiving some backlash of her own for the statement on Twitter, Lena, 26, responded, “Hey ragers. ‘The ones who aren’t advancing the cause’ I mentioned aren’t always, or mostly, women. Case in point: I saw your boobs,” referencing Seth’s song “We Saw Your Boobs” — which he sang during the opening monologue.
NEWS: Seth MacFarlane on if he'll host the Academy Awards again
The 39-year-old Family Guy creator has made quite a few headlines since hosting the gig, where many critics say he went too far with some of his jokes. Two female California state lawmakers have gone as far as reaching out to the Academy, requesting that the Academy say they did not the support the host’s cracks at women.
As for Lena, she opted to stop commenting on the matter.
“Now I’ve done something murky about women’s lib and will return to eating edamame/thinking about moving to Austin like I always do!” she shared.
