The 2017 Met Gala marked Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez's red carpet debut as a couple, and they certainly acted like the Prom King and Queen of the bash — but that doesn't mean they didn't do their best to avoid a few choice people!
An eyewitness tells Life & Style that A-Rod freaked when he spotted his rumored ex Madonna, whom he reportedly dated in 2008. "Alex ran in the other direction,” the insider explains. “He did not want to see Madonna at all. It was hilarious to see a towering guy like Alex just dart across the room!”

Adds the eyewitness, Jennifer “went out of her way to avoid Madonna too."
The former MLB star's marriage to ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis allegedly ended because he was having an affair with the iconic singer. “The embarrassment over Madonna was the last straw," a source told People magazine in 2008 when Cynthia filed for divorce. "She flew to Paris to get out of town before everything blew up between them."
A different insider told the NY Daily News, "She said she found a letter where Alex told Madonna: 'You are my true soulmate.' This all started with Kabbalah. Alex told Cynthia that he'd discovered that he'd been looking for his soulmate. And now he said he'd found her."

Madonna's rep released a cryptic statement at the time, saying, "Madonna and Alex have the same manager, Guy Oseary. They have met. They know each other and Madonna took her kids to a Yankees game last week. There’s really not anything to comment on beyond that.”
Before J.Lo, Alex was most recently linked to businesswoman Anne Wojcicki. They attended the 2016 Met Gala together.
