Paying homage to American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez by performing the songstress’ hit “Let’s Get Loud” on Wednesday night’s show may have seemed like a good idea for 19 year-old Florida native Emily Piriz.
But after tallying the 70 million votes, America didn’t quite agree — and she was sent packing.
“I’m okay,” Emily told Life & Style after last night’s decision. “This has been an incredible experience and everyone there is amazing and deserves to win, so it’s okay.”
For the second consecutive week, viewers saw an all-girl bottom three with Emily, Jena Irene and MK Nobilette all seated on the dreaded stools of elimination.
But with Jena and MK sent to safety, it was Emily who was left to sing for her life.
Sadly, the judges’ decision to save her was not unanimous and Emily was told she was leaving the competition.
Despite J.Lo assuring Emily she had done a good job with her song on performance night, the Bronx native seemed to be at a loss for words Thursday.
“She [Jennifer] didn’t say a lot,” admitted Emily. “She was kind of teary a little bit. She said, ‘Don’t give up. You have a great voice and this isn’t the end. Keep going.’”
With Idol out of her immediate future, Emily, a high school senior, is getting back to the books.
“I’m just gonna go back home,” she smiled. “I definitely want to go back to school and graduate.”
Following that, she admits there are plans to give LA a try. She plans to attend college later on.
“Me and Jena were actually talking. We want to move out to [Hollywood] together this summer,” she revealed.

“The three of us in the bottom were the closest. MK and I were roommates, so we got really close and Jena and I are future roommates so we are really close — our moms got super close, too!”
