For as romantic as ABC’s reality shows The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are, their love stories tend to burn hot then flame out fast. Nearly three dozen seasons have aired in the franchise, but only eight couples are still together — and the vast majority are Bachelorette couples. It’s almost as if it’s folly to expect people to form lasting relationships over the span of two months in a high-stress, highly-produced, all-televised environment (yeah, we don’t get it either).
The Bachelor, you see, hasn’t featured a successful love story in four years. Props to Bachelor No. 21 Nick Viall for trying, though — he attempted to find love on his season of The Bachelor, two seasons of The Bachelorette, and during one Bachelor in Paradise stint, all of which ended poorly. In one of the most unsurprising splits in Bachelor Nation, Nick released a joint statement with Vanessa Grimaldi stating they were "saddened" that they didn't get the "fairytale ending" they'd hoped for. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for Arie Luyendyk Jr.
Meanwhile, four of the five most recent Bachelorette stars are still head over heels in love with their winners… though we’ve heard worrisome reports about Rachel Lindsay’s relationship with Bryan Abasolo (more on that later). The Bachelorette may boast a higher rate of success, but even that show isn’t immune to heartbreak. For example, none of the relationships between seasons 2 and 6 panned out.
Still, as hopeless romantics, we’re celebrating the happy endings below… while we can, anyway! Scroll down to learn more about the ones who've made it work, and be sure to join our Bachelor Facebook group to chat about all the latest updates, exclusive interviews, and juicy gossip.
