At just 23-years-old, Bekah Martinez vyed for Arie Luyendyk Jr.‘s heart on season 22 of The Bachelor. Unfortunately, she was sent home after episode 7 — unable to snag a coveted hometown date. Since her elimination, Bekah continued to make this season of The Bachelor, the most dramatic season ever as she admitted to meeting up with Arie after he sent her packing.

She told Entertainment Tonight, “I just got the opportunity to talk with him a week later at his hotel in LA and it was filmed and everything but it didn’t make the cut. We were just able to talk for 30 or 45 minutes and just kind of hash out our relationship and what happened.”

Turns out Arie admitted he tried to find a reason to send her home ever since he found out how young she was really was. Bekah said, “I was kind of able to call him out and say, ‘I don’t think you gave me a fair shot… I felt like you were looking for a way out ever since you found out how old I was because you were afraid of how strong your feelings were for me.'”

Arie’s responded, “Yeah I think you’re right. I don’t think I was fair and I shouldn’t have handled it that way.” Bekah said she felt like this talk with Arie was the kind of closure both of them needed but she never thought Arie would send her home when he did.

She told Us Weekly, “I definitely didn’t [see it coming] just because I thought that we were at such a good place. I wish we had gotten more time to explore our relationship with each other and I wish he had gotten to know me other constantly asking me and grilling me if I was ready…I think there’s no better way to find out how ready a person is for marriage by just getting to know them rather than continually asking if they are.”
