Luanne Rice, New York Times best-selling author of Beach Girls, Crazy in Love and Cloud Nine, opens up to Life & Style about her latest novel, The Silver Boat, and what inspires her to be a successful writer.
"I'm really excited about this book because it's my first one in quite a while," Luanne tells Life & Style. "It was something that I've been wanting and needing to write for a long time."
Luanne's moving novels typically focus on love, family, nature and the sea. But what makes this one different from the ones before it? "I often write about families and love and often about sisters, but these sisters are at a particular moment in their lives where they reunite after having not seen each other for a long time," Luanne says.
In all, five of Luanne's books have been turned into movies, starring, among others, Oscar winners Holly Hunter and Frances McDormand. Rob Lowe starred in the miniseries Beach Girls on the Lifetime network.
Luanne has stayed in close touch with Rob since that project. "Rob is a wonderful man, and he is a really good, supportive friend," Luanne says.
Rob has written a book himself, a memoir, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, that's due out in late April. "It's a really intense and well-written and wonderful memoir," Luanne adds. "He's as nice as he is handsome and a really good person."
Critics say The Silver Boat, on shelves now, is Luanne Rice at her very best. Pick up a copy here!
