After months of battling out in court, Bethenny Frankel and her estranged husband, Jason Hoppy, have settled the custody part of their divorce case and will co-parent 4-year-old daughter Bryn.
Jason’s attorney, Bernard Clair, confirms the news to Life & Style in a statement:
“My client is delighted that this custody dispute has been resolved; that his co-parenting status has been acknowledged; that the parties’ child will have the benefit of being raised by both parents; and most importantly, that his daughter will no longer be at the mercy of a high profile courtroom battle.”
He continues, “Jason wishes Bethenny only the best of luck, and he looks forward to sharing with her all of the joyous occasions, milestones, and blessings that will be coming up in his daughter’s future.”
As for the specific terms of the settlement, Clair says that will remain confidential.
The news comes one week after the Skinnygirl Mogul faced off in court with Jason and shared the horrific details of their marriage in an effort to gain custody of their child.
She said she had hoped to remain civil following their December 2012 separation, but quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen.
“He said, ‘You’re dead to me. I want nothing to do with you. You think I want to be with you on the holidays? You’re a piece of s--t. You’re garbage. You have no idea what I’ve got on you,’” she said, fighting tears on the stand.
The Real Housewives alum, 43, also said Jason would involve Bryn in their feuds.
“He would say things [to Bryn] like, ‘Mommy should be Ursula the witch. She’s a great witch. You be the princess, I’ll be the prince, Mommy will be the witch.’”
Though they’ve come to an agreement regarding custody, Bethenny will face Jason again to try and do the same with their divorce.
