He’s having a not-so-great summer. Aaron Carter and his girlfriend Madison Parker were arrested in Georgia for driving under the influence (DUI) and possession of marijuana on Saturday, July 15 — less than one month after the “I Want Candy” singer was hospitalized after being body shamed by fans for his frail frame.

At around 9 p.m., the 29-year-old was arrested about 90 miles north of Atlanta, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Us Weekly. Aaron, who is the younger brother of Backstreet Boy and Boy Band star Nick Carter, was also in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest. Local police also confirmed that Aaron’s photographer girlfriend was in the car with him and she was also arrested on drug charges and obstruction.

There was no mention of his arrest on his Twitter account, but a tweet sent out earlier that night revealed that he would be canceling his scheduled appearance later that night in Kansas City. Both Aaron and Madison have remained silent on social media since their arrest.

Madison and Aaron have been together since October 2016 and they’re not shy about flaunting their love on social media. Last month, Madison shared a screenshot of a sweet tribute that Aaron wrote to her, and she gushed about how they met in a lengthy reply on Instagram.

“To feel this kind of love from you makes me believe that there [are] such things as soul mates,” she wrote. “I remember I reached out to shoot you for an editorial, needless to [say] that night you took me to dinner and we have only spent a total of 5 days apart since we met [nine] months ago. Lucky to have found you.”

This isn’t the first time Aaron has had a run-in with the law. He was arrested on similar charges back in 2008, and he recently opened up about how his depression led to his history with drug abuse in a 2016 interview on Oprah: Where Are They Now.

“The depression was brought on because I loved my family being together. I did not want to see them divorced,” he said at the time. “I couldn’t dwell on it. I couldn’t think about it too much. I kind of had to block it out. I started partying and getting into a lot of trouble.”
