Six years ago, Casey Anthony was acquitted of first-degree murder, along with other charges, thanks in large part to her defense attorney Jose Baez.

In a trial that garnered national attention, Jose was able to convince a jury that Casey did not kill her two-year-old daughter Caylee, winning the case with a controversial not guilty verdict.

Jose has gone on to make more headlines for his high-profile clients, including former NFL star Aaron Hernandez, and his involvement in the George Zimmerman trial.

His law firm website touts his achievements, with quotes from Barbara Walters and Gerald Rivera calling him the "one of the greatest trial lawyers of all time," and "a very smart lawyer."

He also made headlines last year after Casey's private investigator claimed she paid her attorney in sexual favors.

However, he denied the accusations.

"I unequivocally and categorically deny exchanging sex for my legal services with Ms. Anthony,” he said in a statement to People. “I further unequivocally and categorically deny having any sexual relationship with Ms. Anthony whatsoever.”

He continued, "I have always conducted my practice consistent with the high ethical standards required of members of the Florida Bar. My representation of Ms. Anthony was no exception."

Jose, who was a high school dropout, is also a New York Times best-selling author after penning a tell-all book about the trial titled, Presumed Guilty: Casey Anthony: The Inside Story.

However, he made sure Casey did not profit from sales of the tell-all.

"Casey will not financially benefit from this book in any way, shape or form,” he said. “This is my story, not hers. Other than Casey, no one else was there from the very beginning. These are my insights into what happened."

With a reported net worth of $5 million, it's safe to say the South Florida-based attorney is doing well for himself.
