Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas' relationship is on hold.
A rep confirms to Life & Style that the Hollywood pair have split, but do not have any plans to divorce at the moment.
"Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage," Catherine's rep tells Life & Style. "There will be no further comment."
It’s been a rough few years for the duo, who wed in November 2000.
In August 2010, Michael announced he was suffering from throat cancer. He underwent chemotherapy and beat it. Just two months ago, he revealed that the type of cancer he had was caused by HPV [human papillomavirus] — transmitted by sexual activity.
“Without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, which actually comes about from cunnilingus,” he shared at the time. “From cunnilingus. I mean, I did worry if the stress caused by my son’s incarceration didn’t help trigger it. But yeah, it’s a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. And if you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it.”
On The View that month, their close friend Barbara Walters relayed a message from Michael, 68, and clarified that Catherine, 43, did not have the HPV virus.
Two months before Michael’s comments, Catherine sought treatment for bipolar II disorder for a second time and checked herself into a health care facility. She first entered treatment in April 2011.
The duo, who have two children — Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10 — haven’t been seen together since April.
