About a year ago, hairstylist to the stars, Ted Gibson, began a Facebook page called "We Need an Oscar for Hair" to pressure the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to acknowledge hairstyling in films. Somebody must have been reading, because two weeks ago, the Academy changed the award from Best Makeup to Best Makeup and Hairstyling!

So what's a celebrity hairstylist to do? Go for the gold! So we asked Ted, who's styled Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway and Gabrielle Union, among many notable actresses, which leading lady he'd love to get his hands on -- and the nominee is...
"Jessica Chastain, of course," Ted tells Life & Style. "She has really great natural red hair. She has a really interesting sensibility because she's an actor's actor -- not just a pretty face."
And Jessica knows the importance of hairstyling in films. "When I'm acting, I prefer to play characters where I get to transform, and I do a lot of that through hair," says Jessica, who wore wigs for her roles in The Help and The Debt. "There's a lot of skill required to work with a wig."
But Ted's not just gunning for his own Oscar. "[Starting this campaign] was for all my styling friends who do hair in movies," he says. "I mean, Meryl Streep thanked her hairstylist of the past 30 years when she won Best Actress for Iron Lady this year!"
We'll have to wait until 2013 to see who the Oscar nominees will be, but we're pulling for you, Ted!
