Molly Glynn of Chicago Fire was struck and killed by a falling tree during a bike ride with her husband on Friday, Sept. 5.
The 46-year-old was riding with her husband, Joe Foust, in Chicago's Erickson Woods when a fast-moving storm hit the area around 3 p.m.
Molly had called out to her husband, who was ahead of her, to seek shelter just seconds before the tree uprooted and crashed into her. She had been wearing a helmet, but it wasn’t enough to save her. She was pronounced dead in Evanston NorthShore Hospital on Saturday, Sept. 6, after sustaining injuries from the tragic accident.
The veteran stage actress had played an ER doctor on the NBC series.
Joe sadly took to Facebook to share images of the pair, and heartbreakingly wrote, “I couldn’t save her. I couldn’t save her. She’s gone.”
Friends of the couple have since started a campaign on Giveforward to raise funds for Joe and the pair’s two children, Chance, 17, and Declan, 13. It has raised 96% of its goal ($124,208 of $130,000) so far.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Glynn and Foust families.
