This is a game changer…
These desserts are made up of fried tortillas tossed in sugar, cinnamon, and honey and will be served with an apple caramel dipping sauce. Though the official release of the dessert won't be happening for awhile, the company will be testing the buñuelos out starting next month.
This new menu addition marks the third major change that Chipotle has made in its 20 years, the first being their tofu sofritas in 2014, and the second, their chorizo, which was introduced in October of last year.
The CMO of the restaurant teased that the company would be expanding its horizons back in January, and the addition of this particular dessert is a logical next step.
“It only adds one ingredient not already found in our restaurants,” Mark Crumpacker said. “It’s easy to prepare, and it’s delicious.”
It’s safe to say Chipotle needs the hype these days after an E. coli outbreak plagued the chain in 2015.
Even though guac is still extra, we think this sweet addition to the menu will definitely encourage customers to try it out!
Now just one question: will they deliver?!
