It was the love triangle of 2012 and now Chris Brown is coming clean about it all.
Months after he released a mysterious video where he explained how he loved two people at the same time – Rihanna and his then girlfriend Karrueche Tran — the 23-year-old is explaining it further.
“I’m not trying to be a player,” he said during an interview with Hot 97 radio station on April 1. “It’s never an easy situation to tell another person that you still love another person, so that’s kinda difficult.”

But Chris claims everything is now solid between he and his ex, Karrueche.
“Our friendship, me and Karrueche’s friendship, is still cool,” he shares, adding, “We’re still good friends.”
So why did he release the video?
“I wanted to be more of a man,” Chris explains. “Me being young, even with relationships in the past, I did a lot of lying, I did everything just to make sure nobody gets hurt in the process. I just don’t feel it’s necessary anymore in my life. Nobody can hate me for being honest. I had to just be brutal. I told both of them that the video was coming out.”
Being more of a man is something Chris has been harping on lately. “I think now that I’m becoming older, and trying to mature in this life under the public eye at all times, I have to focus on doing the right thing and being more of a humble individual,” he said in another interview last week.
VIDEO: Chris Brown talks to Matt Lauer about Rihanna
And while on Today with Matt Lauer to promote his new single “Fine China” on Monday, Chris went into detail about repairing his relationship with Rihanna, whom he physically attacked in 2009.
“I’ve been humbled by the whole experience, from me losing everything to me having to regain public opinion, or whatever it is,” he admitted. “But most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong, and having to kind of deal with myself and forgive myself in the same breath, and being able to apologize to Rihanna, and being able to be that man that can be a man, you know?”
As Life & Style recently reported, the love triangle between Chris, Rihanna and Karrueche has officially ended – and he sends a clear message of that in his new video for “Fine China.”
