Say it ain’t so! Anna Faris and Chris Pratt have announced that after eight years of marriage, they are legally separating. The two share a four-year-old son named Jack. The announcement came on Instagram.

“We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake, we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward,” Anna’s post read. “We still love each other and we will always cherish our time together.”

The two met on the set of Take Me Home Tonight back in 2007 — at the time, Anna was still married to her first husband, Ben Indra, but Chris waited until the two finalized their divorce to make the first move. They got engaged in 2008 and married the following year — and have been our relationship goals ever since. In a 2015 reddit AMA, the 38-year-old Parks and Rec hunk gushed that he and the blonde beauty, 40, were “meant to be.”

“Anna and I are meant to be together,” he explained. “Our relationship has made me believe in divine intervention and destiny, just as much as my crazy career and the way I fell into this life. She and I grew up 20 minutes away from each other, but never met until we met in LA.”

Similarly, Anna has never shied away from gushing about her man and their once oddly perfect union. In 2015, she confronted “devastating” rumors about him cheating by explaining, “For us, it was like, ‘What the heck.’ This has been blindsiding to us. We have an incredible relationship. It has been weirdly stinging. I have always kind of believed that part of the rumors of celebrity couples were sort of true‚ because they had never been a part of my life.”

We wish Anna, Chris, and Jack the best in this trying time. And — on the bright side — this means both Anna and Chris are now single…
