Just days after more than 200 friends and family members gathered at Toronto's Steeles Memorial Chapel on March 16 to say goodbye to Corey Haim, the actor's ex-fiancée Cindy Guyer is speaking out about the former teen star's tragic death. "We almost knew it was going to happen -- he was such a mess," Cindy tells Life & Style exclusively. "He had a devil inside him, and the devil was the drug."
A model and actress, Cindy met Corey in Chicago in 2000. A few days after they met, he asked her to marry him, and she bought him a ticket to visit her in LA. Things quickly fell apart. "He got violent and temperamental," she says. "He was doing a lot of drugs." After a few weeks, Corey was staying with friends, but his mother called Cindy and blamed her for Corey's drug use. "I thought, I'm not going to be responsible for getting anyone on drugs, so I booked him into Betty Ford," Cindy reveals, adding that Corey's best friend, Corey Feldman, called to thank her. "He ended up walking out of rehab eight days later." After that, Cindy says, she avoided Corey, but he did call to apologize a few years ago. "I tried my best to help him," she says. "It's very, very sad."
