In a surprising mid-show elimination, Diana Nyad was sent home on tonight's Dancing With the Stars.
Host Tom Bergeron revealed the 64-year-old long-distance swimmer and her partner, Henry Byalikov, received the lowest score and the least amount of viewer votes.
"The crowd was shocked!" an eyewitness tells Life & Style.
Though it was revealed at the top of the hour there would be a double elimination and anyone could go at any time, the twist still felt sudden.
"Diana ended her time on the show getting the audience on their feet. She danced her final dance to a round of applause," says the onlooker.
"She seemed totally fine. She was walking around the set as if there wasn't a live show going on -- a producer had to pull her back because she almost got in a shot!"
Life & Style spoke with Diana last week after her first dance.
"It's clear there are so many gifted people here," she told the mag. "My goal is to get in there and get that dance done!"
