It’s the end of an era — David Beckham has announced he’s retiring from soccer.“I’m thankful to PSG [Paris Saint-Germain soccer club] for giving me the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level,” the iconic athlete says in a statement.
The 38-year-old retires after spending the past 20 years of his life blazing trails in the world of professional soccer. Starting with Manchester United in 1992, he’s moved to clubs such as Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and finally, Paris Saint-Germain.

"I owe everything to [wife] Victoria [Beckham] and the kids, who have given me the inspiration and support to play at the highest level for such a long period.” He also thanks his parents for everything they’ve afforded him: "I wouldn't have achieved what I have done today without my family. I'm grateful for my parents' sacrifice, which made me realise my dreams.”
The superstar has decided to gracefully close the door on his amazing accomplishments, which includes an astounding 115 matches with Manchester and numerous World Cup tournaments — not to mention, all of his sexy modeling deals and cavalcade of endorsements.

Now he’ll have even more time to spend with his boys — Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, and Cruz, 7 — and daughter Harper, 22 months.
