Fans watched last week as Bachelorette Andi Dorfman mourned the loss of deceased contestant Eric Hill on national television. But it wasn’t just for show — Eric’s sister Karen Tracey tells Life & Style that Andi also sent over her personal condolences to the family in a written letter.

“Andi sent us a very thoughtful letter, all about her memories of Eric and their first date together,” Karen shares in the new issue of Life & Style.

The death of the 31-year-old contestant in an April paragliding accident has cast a shadow over this season of The Bachelorette.

But Karen explains to Life & Style she wasn’t upset the episode showed a big fight between Andi and Eric, who called her “a TV actress” and walked out. “I think ABC handled the situation the best they could, and I’m fine with it,” she says.

Eric, she adds, genuinely enjoyed his time on the show, “but really felt bad that he made Andi cry.”
