Following the drowning death of a man at her Beverly Hills home early Sunday morning, Demi Moore is speaking out about the “unthinkable tragedy.”
"I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news," the 52-year-old said in a statement. “My heart goes out to this young man's family and friends."

The victim, identified as Edenilson Steven Valle, 21, was a guest at a party thrown by Demi’s assistant in her absence. According to Los Angeles County coroner Lt. Fred Corral, the young man was pulled from the pool’s deep end after being in the water for an estimated 10-15 minutes.

Corral adds that Valle, who was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m. on July 19, did not know how to swim. TMZ, citing law enforcement sources, also reports that he appears to have slipped and fallen into the pool, and that foul play is not suspected.
A sergeant at the Los Angeles Police Department confirms that neither Demi nor any of her family members were home at the time of the accident.
