Did Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Get Married? What We Know About Their Long-Awaited Wedding
Back in March, Miley Cyrus’ father, country star Billy Ray Cyrus, seemingly confirmed on Instagram that his world-famous daughter secretly tied the knot. The “Achy Breaky Heart” crooner, 56, got fans excited when he posted a photo of Miley wearing a white dress while flashing a huge grin.
Immediately, Smilers everywhere assumed that the former Hannah Montana star had wed her longtime love, Liam Hemsworth. Well, as it turns out, the couple didn’t actually become husband and wife. “Whoa! Don’t jump the gun,” Billy Ray wrote on Instagram at the time. “Been at work. Glad to see so many love [Miley] the same as I do.”
But, months later — as In Touch exclusively revealed last week — Miley and Liam finally decided to exchange vows in a very private Oct. 28 ceremony on Georgia’s Tybee Island, where they fell in love while filming 2010’s The Last Song. “Neither Miley nor Liam planned to get married when she booked the trip to see him, but that all changed once she arrived,” a source told the magazine. “They felt so nostalgic and spent hours reminiscing about old times. They both realized that the island was the ideal setting because it has such sentimental value to them.”
The wedding was very low-key — just the way Miley and Liam had hoped it would be. “Miley enjoys leading a hippie life and never wanted to have a big Hollywood wedding, so it all worked out perfectly,” the source explained, noting that the pair, who have been engaged on and off since 2012, didn’t have time to organize a wedding party because it was all so last minute.
For her big day, the “See You Again” songstress donned a casual long, white dress before she and Liam put a ring on it. Instead of a big reception, “they celebrated their nuptials over a romantic candlelit dinner,” the source shared.
Now, the genetically blessed duo are planning to celebrate their new life together with friends and family in California. “Miley and Liam plan to have an intimate wedding party back in LA,” the insider said. “Despite going through their ups and downs over the years, Miley and Liam realize that they can’t live without each other. They’re in a great place right now and looking forward to starting a family.”
