“It’s as far as I could go at this point in my life and career,” says Selena, who starred on Disney's hit Wizards of Waverly Place for four seasons. “It’s me kind of taking baby steps. But I know that people will judge my involvement in the movie as a whole. I’m prepared to accept that.”
In the movie, she plays Faith — one out four female college pals who rob a bank to fund their Spring Break trip. There, they meet James Franco’s character, Alien, who bails them out of jail and wants them to do a bit of dirty work. According to reviews, there are many disturbing scenes in the movie.

It’s the first very scandalous role for the cherub-faced beauty. The former Disney darling stars alongside Vanessa Hudgens, also formerly part of the Mickey Mouse family.
“Disney is a machine, and I’m grateful for it, but I feel like being part of that environment made me crave the reaction from other projects even more,” Selena, 20, says. “Creatively this is where I wanted to go.”

The film hits theaters March 22.
