The death of Matthew Crawley, played by actor Dan Stevenson, left a gaping hole in the hearts of many Downton Abbey fans — and in the love life of his onscreen wife, Michelle Dockery's Lady Mary.But the fourth season will show Lady Mary slowly rebuilding her life as a widow and a new mother. And, as Michelle revealed during a PBS panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills Tuesday, Lady Mary may even find love again!"She's slowly coming back to real life," Michelle revealed about what her character will be up to this upcoming season. "It's important for her to move on and there is a potential love interest."

"They become close because of what they've both been through. Romantically I don't think it is going anywhere. I hope not. It's very inappropriate."The 31-year-old actress acknowledged that fans weren't the only ones sad to see Matthew leave the show — she was terrified. When she learned Stevens was leaving, Michelle didn't know what to do."My first reaction was 'oh crap, what is going to happen?' I thought 'where can the story go now?' We spent all this time having this on-off/will-they/won't-they relationship?" she revealed, finally admitting that she came to accept that the plot was in good hands.As Mary continues to mourn on the series, this could just be the season for Lady Edith, the oft-overlooked and unlucky in love middle sister, to finally triumph in her career and the romance department. Previews show Laura Carmichael's Edith sporting glam flapper ensembles as she cozies up to her boss, the newspaper magnate.
