We’ve never seen a new mom as giddy as Drew Barrymore!
The actress sat down with Oprah Winfrey on her Next Chapter segment last night and got very candid about baby Olive and motherhood — even sharing a personal photo here and there.
You know that sick feeling of anticipation you get when you’re going to see your crush? Well, Drew likens motherhood to just that.
“Everyone says ‘What’s parenthood like?’ and the only word that came across my world was indescribable,” she shares. “Because I thought it was good in the way that no words are eloquent or thorough enough to describe her.”

"It’s like having the worst crush of your life. I drive home with heart palpitations, like I can’t wait to get to her,” she continues, adding jokingly, “and I think, you know, is she gonna call if I play my cards right? Will she ask me to spend the night? If I just do everything right and I’m perfect—even though there’s no such thing as perfection.”
Drew and her hubby, who married in June 2012, welcomed their adorable daughter on Sept. 26—and ever since she’s entered her movie star’s mom’s world, it’s changed her for the best.
“I wake up every morning—and I am not a morning person—it’s a newfound joy that I have in the a.m. hours that I’ve never known because I get to wake her up and she’s so fun and always smiling and doesn’t have this history of all these thoughts you wake up with as you’re an adult, like, ‘Oh my God, what did I say? Oh God, I have that thing to do’…it’s joy," she says.
The 37-year-old also went on to show personal photos of her sweet little lady, including Olive dressed as a lobster in a pot for Halloween!

Growing up in Hollywood, the starlet’s troubled childhood became a public spectacle in the 1980s. By age 13, she was in rehab. So how did she get to this place?
“I always knew that I wanted to create a wonderful, healthy, safe family environment, but I didn’t know how I was going to get there,” she tells Oprah. “I don’t know how I have the drive I have. Both my parents are the opposite. It’s so weird. I don’t know where I get it from, but I do know that in my family, there’s a very long history of trying to figure it out personally. I thought I would like to be someone in a generation of t his family that actually does figure it out, but I know it’s not going to be perfect—but its going to be good.”
And we think Drew's giving her family just that.
