He may not have went home a winner, but he's leaving with something else: a romance.
Last night, American Idol said goodbye to Burnell Taylor. Lazaro Arbos remains the only male in the competition.
It was such an emotional dismissal that nearly every judge was visibly upset — Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj even cried!
After Ryan Seacrest revealed he was leaving the show, it was his interaction with hopeful Amber Holcomb that had the room buzzing. The pair kissed.
"I want to keep it PG-13, but I just wanted to let all of them know that I love them — and they're all capable of killing it," Burnell tells Life & Style about the Amber smooch and the other five remaining contestants. "I feel that the place where we're at right now, we're all going to be somebody if we take this experience and run with it."
The night before, we caught up with Amber who suggested their crush is a mutual feeling — and Burnell agrees.
NEWS: Eliminated American Idol contestant Devin Velez talks Nicki Minaj
"It definitely is," says the 19-year-old says, who performed Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name" on Wednesday. "I said it once before. A crush only involves one person — so it ain't a crush."
Burnell is already thinking about their future and plans to sing a duet with the beauty when they go on the Idol tour this summer.
As for America voting him out of the competition, he's okay with it.
"I'm glad they let me go because I know that everything that is coming after this show is about to be amazing," he shares. "I don't feel like I'm the underdog, but I'm in this situation where anybody out there that says "I can't," now I know that I have."
Next week is the last time the judges will be allowed to use their save. Randy Jackson announced last night that the decision to use the save was yet again not unanimous — the same situation occurred last week when Devin Velez was eliminated. When Curtis Finch Jr. was eliminated the first week of the competition, Nicki stated that no one would get a save on the show moving forward.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see if she changes her mind come next week!
