In a revealing new interview in Elle magazine, actor Ethan Hawke says that he never should have gotten married to former wife Uma Thurman.
Ethan and Uma, who met on the set of the movie Gattaca, were married from 1998 to 2005 and share two kids, daughter Maya and son Levon. Their divorce was painful and public, and Ethan says he learned a lot of important lessons about relationships. Ethan says that, at 27, he was too young to get married.

"There was this discovery that the male brain isn’t done until 28. I definitely think my frontal lobe was not finished. I had no business taking vows that would last more than two weeks," he told the mag. "I was absolutely wrong."
The celebrity who does have it right, though? Ethan says his relationship role model is baseball player Derek Jeter, who has dated plenty of beautiful women (including Jessica Biel and Jessica Alba) but not settled down with any of them yet.
"He lives his life like, 'Hey man, I play shortstop for the New York Yankees. And I’m not going to get married until I’m no longer a shortstop for the New York Yankees.' Which is incredibly smart," the Reality Bites star says of the star athlete.
