Mackenzie Douthit admits that being pregnant and having type 1 diabetes is no easy feat.
The Teen Mom 3 star, who’s already mom to son Gannon, 2, tells Life & Style that she finds herself frustrated with her second pregnancy.
“My blood sugar was doing really good when I first got pregnant with Gannon and then they weren’t doing so well when I got pregnant [this time],” the 19-year-old tells Life & Style. “That might make the end result more difficult for her, so I am a little nervous with this one.”

After giving birth to her son, doctors advised Mackenzie that she should not get pregnant again due to the risks for both her and the baby. With Mackenzie being a type 1 diabetic, she has a high chance of slipping into a coma during labor, which stems from low blood sugar.
“Gannon really was a miracle. The doctors called him a miracle,” the 19-year-old says. “Since I was 11-years-old, I have struggled with high blood sugars. When I got pregnant with Gannon, my levels were perfect and the doctors couldn’t believe it.”
Mackenzie says this pregnancy has been much more difficult than her first — and that she and her husband, Josh McKee, 20, did not plan it.
“I had to give up a lot to have this baby, but it’s time to live for my family and that’s who I am now,” she shares. “I’m a wife and I live to make Gannon and Josh happy.”

Mackenzie does get scared at times, but finds her inner strength to pull through.
“I have to be strong for her [the baby] and let her know it’s okay,” she tells Life & Style. “Stressing out is going to put stress on her. There is worry about what could go wrong in the back of my mind, but I have to remind myself that God is in control. I have to let her and Gannon know that everything is going to be okay.”
