Jeremy Piven, who has been getting rave reviews for his performance in the revival of David Mamet's play, Speed-the-Plow, missed last night's show and may be out for good, Life & Style has learned.
The reason, an insider tells Life & Style: Jeremy's suffering from exhaustion and is on bed rest under a doctor's care. "He missed the Tuesday performance," the insider says. "He was totally exhausted. He looked really gaunt, gray and tired on Sunday, so I¹m not surprised."
"I think he's done with the show," the insider says. "The run isn't over, but I don't think he wants to go back unless he's contractually obligated."
Jeremy's rep, Samantha Mast, tells Life & Style, "He has been sick and is on bed rest. I haven't spoken with the doctors yet, so I don't know exactly what the issue is. I don't know when he'll be returning to the show."
Jeremy, 43, who also plays the hyper-competitive Hollywood agent Ari Gold on HBO's Entourage, has good reason to be exhausted. In addition to his performances on Broadway, he's been seen at parties. He made headlines in December when he crashed — by mistake, he said — Britney Spears' 27th-birthday party in NYC.
