Life can change in just a second. And for Chris Picco, his life will never be the same again.

At just 24 weeks along, his wife, Ashley, 30, had to have an emergency C-section to deliver their premature son, Lennon. She unexpectedly died before giving birth to their first child in Loma Linda, Calif.

During Ashley’s pregnancy, she’d feel Lennon moving to music, so she asked her husband to bring his guitar to the hospital and play for him when he was born.

In a video that has gone viral, the new father is seen strumming his guitar and tenderly singing The Beatles’ “Blackbird” to his son as he lies in an incubator in the ICU.

Just hours after he sang to his beautiful baby boy, Lennon passed away. He was only four days old.

“My little fighter, Lennon James Picco went to sleep in his daddy’s arms late last night,” he wrote in a message to his supporters.

“He was surrounded by family, friends, and the best doctors, nurses and hospital staff in the world. He was dressed in an outfit that Ashley bought for him, with little guitars on it, and wrapped in a blanket made by a dear friend.”

He continued, “I am so thankful for the four unforgettable days I got to spend with him. His mommy would have been so beyond joy to see him — as I have had the privilege of doing.”

Chris set up a memorial in honor of his late wife, called The Ashley Picco Memorial Fund. All donations will be used to cover the family’s medical expenses. To learn more and support the cause, click here.
