High school student Malik Sparkman had a promising future ahead of him. The 18-year-old football star was already being recruited to play at Florida State even though he was just a junior.
But on May 17, he lost his fight against kidney cancer and his dying wish was to walk onto the football field with his team one last time.

Seven days later, 500 friends and family members gathered at Coffee County High School in Douglas, Ga., to watch as Sparkman's teammates carried his coffin through the tunnel to the end zone. It wasn't until a video of the teen played that the young men broke down in tears.
"He always said he wasn't ever gonna give up and God has him,” Sparkman's girlfriend, Tia Williams, told WSB-TV Channel 2. “He was a fighter."
She added, "[The team's] hanging in there...It brought [them] closer. They're strong...they know he's not suffering anymore."
