A show insider tells Us Weekly that Michelle's absence will be attributed to the fact that she's living in NYC and working on building a fashion empire (not unlike the actresses who played her!)

Fuller House, which is set in San Francisco, will center on eldest daughter D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron Bure), whose sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy (Andrea Barber) move in with her after she's widowed and left to raise three sons.
Bob Saget (Danny Tanner), John Stamos (Jesse Katsopolis), Lori Loughlin (Becky Katsopolis) and Dave Coulier (Joey Gladstone) are all slated to guest star at some point.
